the Folly Short Story Prize
the Folly Short Story Prize
The inaugural Folly Annual Short Story Competition is open to writers from anywhere in the world. It closes on 30 May 2023. Winners will be notified by 1 July 2023.
Are you drawn to satirical takes on the social scene? Enjoy writing dark humour and starkly honest account of ordinary life? We are looking for content that takes risks, screams with honesty and celebrates life’s extraordinary moments.
As well as a prize pool of $1700, shortlisted entries will be considered for entry into the 2023 print edition of Folly Journal. Finalists and prizewinners will be published and will receive three complementary print copies of Folly Journal.
Any Wellington based finalists will be provided with one year of complimentary access to the Wellington Writers Studio.
