PIF is an international puppet festival of largely professional puppet theatre groups. It is also a festival for any puppeteer or theatrician who uses puppetry as a means of artistic expression. Until now more than 950 theatres from all continents have participated. The festival is for both adults and children. PIF has been held each year since 1968, so the festival has long tradition behind it. It is usually held in the end of August or in the beginning of September. PIF host city is Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.

ABOUT PIF
The International Puppet Theatre Festival – PIF (Pupteatra Internacia Festivalo) gathers the best-known international and Croatian puppet theatres and performances. The arts of puppetry are presented and promoted through plays, exhibits, round tables and discussions, seminars, puppetry workshops, publishing activities and public street programs.
ORGANIZER
The PIF is organized by the Cultural Centre Travno, a cultural institution that organizes various educational and cultural programs – concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, educational and popular workshops and seminars, lectures, and courses in foreign languages. It is specialized in programs and publishing in the field of puppetry.
THE DATE AND LOCATION OF THE FESTIVAL
57th international puppet festival – PIF will take place from the September 13th to 19th, 2024, in the City of Zagreb, Republic of Croatia. In case of unfavourable epidemic situation, we will have to find alternative digital options of program realization.
HOW TO REGISTER
- A short text about the theatre, group, or individual (to 900 characters)
- A short description of the performance (to 900 characters)
- The names of the author, performers, and other participants
- 3 photographs of the performance (in high resolution)
- Link of full performance or video recording of the performance (DVD or CD)
THE MANNER OF CHOOSING PERFORMANCES
Theatre plays are chosen through a competition or a direct contact by organizer based on plays seen on some of the festivals. The basic criteria for the selection of performances will, above all, be their artistic quality. All ensembles that apply will be informed of the selection results. The organizer reserves the right to select performances without subsequent explanation.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The organizer will ensure two days of full pension for at most ten members of the ensemble in question.
