The 72nd ARD International Music Competition 2023 in Munich is open for the following categories:
- Harp
- Double Bass
- Piano Trio
- Viola
The invitation to participate in this competition is extended to young musicians, who are ready to launch an international career. The competition is open to musicians of all nations born between 1994 and 2006 in the categories harp, double bass and viola. Piano Trio: total age maximum 90; single members neither younger than 17 nor older than 35.
The competition will be conducted during the period from August 28 to September 15, 2023 (including the prizewinners’ concerts).
All auditions are open to the public. Deadline for registration: March 31, 2023

VIDEO RECORDING Requirements
Content:
- Recent (less than 12 months old) video recording, containing the required program for the preliminary audition only (no YouTube links e. a.)
Recording:
- Pieces must be recorded in their entirety and have to be UNEDITED (no cuts).
- Movements can be send as single files. Exeption for the harp category: Both works have to be recorded without in one single session without any cuts.
- Microphones should be positioned at a distance allowing to obtain a good sound quality.
- For soloists: The video must be filmed from the side in a 45 degree angle, using a fixed and wide camera angle; musician’s hands and face must remain visible all the time. This also applies for ensembles, if possible.
- Public recordings are accepted, as long as they meet the recording conditions stated above (especially no cuts).
Technical specifications (suggested)
- Video quality – 720p or 1080i or 1080p
- Audio quality – 256kbps mp3 or 128aac
- Microphone of adequate quality (no built-in smart phone mic)
- File Format – mp4 or mov
- max. 9 Mbit, max. 900 MB
